We have great news to share.  The Fair Electricity Rate Action Fund is proud to report that your work has helped defeat a series of anti-consumer legislative proposals that would have led to higher utility rates for you, your family, your community and for employers across the state.

We Did It.  But Our Work Goes On.

Just as you stood up and defeated Ameren’s proposal to increase your rates by 40% last year, this year you stood up and defeated every bad idea the utilities put forward.

• Rate Case Duration: The proposal pushed by the big utility companies that would have allowed them raise your rates more frequently did not pass.  FERAF supporters made nearly 15,000 phone calls to legislators in the final days of the legislative session, and your elected officials listened.  In response to your calls for fair electricity rates, legislative leaders quietly dropped the proposal during the final week of the session, despite intense utility lobbyist pressure.

• Bad Gas Debt Surcharge: Thanks to your help, a proposal pushed by the big gas companies to allow them to charge you immediately when other consumers do not pay their bills was also pulled from consideration.

We Can Stand Up to the Big Utility Companies.
