Our History

In its brief existence, FERAF has a successful record of informing the public and influencing the legislative process in order to keep electricity rates fair and affordable for Missourians. During the 2009 Missouri legislative session, FERAF mounted a successful effort in opposition to the “Construction Works in Progress” (CWIP) bill moving through the legislature at the time. The CWIP bill would have raised energy rates on Missouri’s electrical consumers by as much as 40%. During the same legislative session, FERAF advocated the passage of the SB 376, the “Missouri Small Business and Residential Energy Efficiency Act”, the goal of which was to create incentives for Missouri’s utility companies to help electricity consumers improve electricity conservation.

Our Mission

The Fair Energy Rate Action Fund (FERAF) is a Missouri-based consumer and employer group formed in 2009 with the goal of keeping Missouri’s energy rates fair and affordable. FERAF seeks to accomplish this goal by educating the general public and public policy makers about the impact of utility rates on business and residential consumers.
